Russian Timber Journal 06-2024: Interview with Chongqing Chensen Timber, a Chinese sawn timber trader: “The supply of sawn timber currently exceeds the demand”; Rosleskhoz published final harvesting volumes performance by Russian regions: the Russian timber harvest has been reducing for two consecutive years; the U.S. is dramatically increasing the duty it charges on softwood lumber imports from Canada, setting the rate at 14.54%; Sveza announced the purchase of Kama PPM; the Segezha Group’s management team had decided to issue new shares, the details are to be provided in the fall; the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation included an investment project by Forest Travel LLC in the list of priority investment projects in the forest sector; Tuminsky Priisk LLC commissioned a plywood production shop and a sawn timber drying line within the implementation of a priority investment project; Zhong Hua LLC, an enterprise founded in June 2023 by the Chinese businessman Li Chuanming, is planning to start producing veneer, plywood, wood-based panels, and panels in Lysva by the end of 2024; in H1 2024, enterprises from the Northwestern Federal District increased their furniture production by 20.2%, up to 22.45 billion rubles.
