Russian Timber Journal 05-2022: Alexander Shangin, CEO, Vologodskiye Lesopromyshlenniki Group: “Substantial assistance to systemically important federal-level enterprises is currently non-existent”; roaring demand in 2021 caused a consumption/supply imbalance in the Russian MDF/HDF market; Rosleskhoz urges for reduced liability of forest users operating LesEGAIS, the draft amendment exempts users system from liability for failure to procure an accompanying document in case of a lengthy technical failure in system operation lasting more than 12 hours.; in January-April 2022, plywood production in Russia decreased by 10.3% YoY to 1.346 million m³; Valmet’s withdrawal from Russia is progressing, the company has initiated employee reductions, which will result in a 50% reduction in the number of employees in Russia in this first implementation phase; Rehau Group has announced the intention to sell its business in Russia to local management and will withdraw completely from the country.
