Russian Timber Journal 01-2023: Valeriy Sergeevich Sukhanov, D. Eng., Honored Worker of the Russian Forest Industry: “The Russian timber industry has degraded”; in 2022, the export of sawn timber from Russia dropped by 22% YoY, down to 23.5 million m³, this is the lowest since 2014–2015; West Fraser, Canfor, Interfor reduce sawn timber production; decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 2552 dated 30.12.2022 and changes introduced in Decree No. 521 allow Russian exporters to transport timber by trucks to all EAEU countries except Armenia starting from January 31; in 2022, the Russian export of timber products reduced by two times, or by 48.6%, down to 9.9 million tons; over 25 billion rubles’ worth of transportation costs of industrial products export will be subsidized in 2023.
