In the North of Udmurtia will Glazovsky forest cluster. Its creation will help the social and economic development of the Northern regions of the Republic.

An additional argument in favor of the formation of the Glazov forest cluster will be the creation of the territory of advanced socio-economic development in the Northern capital of Udmurtia, which will allow the residents of the cluster to enjoy significant benefits. About it reports the edition “Izvestiya of the Republic of Udmurtia”.

In the Glazovsky forest cluster, it is planned to process wood raw materials in depth – there will be produced birch veneer, glued and laminated plywood. In the future, it is possible to produce wood-fiber and wood-particle boards, pellets and firewood.

Experts believe that within the cluster it is economically feasible to consider the option of supplying manufactured products for the production of furniture to the Glazov furniture factory. First, there will be a guaranteed consumer – a large furniture company, and secondly, it will reduce part of the cost of transportation of lumber from the Central and South-Western parts of Udmurtia.

The implementation of the investment project to create a high-tech production of waste-free wood processing, followed by the formation on this basis of the forest cluster will increase the percentage of use of the calculated cutting area located on the territory of the Glazov cluster; the depth of processing of harvested wood.

Among other advantages which will appear after creation of a cluster-development of logging and woodworking production in Northern part of Udmurtia, increase in quantity of the let-out high-quality timber, including providing locals, increase of diversification and stability of economy of the Glazovsky area and the neighboring territories; creation of new workplaces and development of infrastructure of Glazovsky and the neighboring Northern areas of the Republic.

Udmurtia should become a center of deep processing of wood by 2030. By this time, the volume of sales of unprocessed timber is planned to be reduced by more than 90 %.
