Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia suggests imposing safeguard duties on imported furniture

22 May 2025 ` 19:32

The Association shared an initiative to impose safeguard duties on furniture from unfriendly countries. It submitted the corresponding address to the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the end of March, according to Kommersant.

The Association suggests increasing customs duties on furniture imported from countries that supported anti-Russian sanctions. No specific numbers have been announced yet. The Association suggests creating a working group with representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Federal Customs Service, and the industry to discuss this issue.

The Ministry declared that they had not received the address yet but were prepared to consider this matter within the existing subcommission on customs regulation.

The Federal Customs Service noted that duties were already under discussion, and a separate, newly created working group could duplicate the functions of already operating structures.
