Andritz to supply a new wood handling plant to RK-Grand, Karelia region, Russia

International technology group Andritz has received an order from RK-Grand, Russia, to deliver a new wood handling plant for its Pitkyaranta pulp mill in the Republic of Karelia, Russia. Start-up is planned for the fourth quarter of 2023.

The delivery includes a new debarking and chipping line with a hydrostatically supported debarking drum and horizontally fed HHQ-Chipper with a TK-IV TurnKnife System to ensure high chip quality and long intervals between knife changes. This new debarking line is designed to achieve a very high debarking degree and is equipped with an efficient de-icing system, which helps to meet the very high pulp quality standards at the Pitkyaranta mill. The plant will process 870,000 m³ sob of pine and spruce logs annually.

In addition to this equipment, the scope of supply includes chip handling for both round wood chips and purchased chips, with a new wood chip storage silo and a wood chip sorting station. The energy value of the bark will be increased with the new-generation HQ-Press bark press.
