The timber industry complex of the Tomsk region was among the most advanced
Deputy Governor for agro-industrial policy and environmental management Andrei Knorr summed up the results of the forest industry in 2018 at the reporting press conference, as reported by the press service of the Department of Forestry of the Tomsk region. According to the head, today there is steady growth and dynamics of forestry.
Shipment of timber products in the Tomsk region in 2018 reached 14.1 billion rubles. The increase in exports of wood products amounted to 53% by 2017 and reached almost 177 million us dollars.
The growth of production last year was noted for all major products — chipboard, MDF, lumber, and veneer. Tomsk region exports wood products to 19 countries, the largest consumer in 2018 was Uzbekistan.
“In recent years, the Tomsk region has almost ceased to export round wood, the entire volume is being processed,-said the Vice-Governor. – Export of raw materials is only 0.23% of the annual volume of harvested wood. Today it is the lowest rate across Siberia and one of the lowest in Russia. In addition, it is an indicator of the high competitive ability of our enterprises.”
State forest and fire supervision in 2018, as stressed by the Deputy Governor, also worked with good results. The average area of one fire on the lands of the forest Fund in the Tomsk region in 2018 amounted to 8 hectares, and the total area — 689.9 hectares. These figures were the lowest in the last ten years due to the increase in aviation monitoring compared to 2017 year four times.
Forest regeneration in 2018 was performed at 115% of the planned volume. Reforestation activities covered area of 27.6 thousand hectares In 2019 will continue the practice of using seedlings with the closed root system. As part of the Federal project “forest Conservation” of the national project “Ecology” in the Tomsk region by 2024, the volume of reforestation is planned to increase to 42.5 thousand hectares.
