Sweden: Decrease in roundwood prices 2020

The report of statistics on Swedish roundwood prices in 2020 show decreasing delivery prices compared to 2019. The price of pulpwood decreased by 11% and the sawlog price by 7% compared to 2019, according to new statistics from the Swedish Forest Agency.

The pulpwood price decreased by 11 percent during 2020 compared with 2019 and the price of sawlog decreased by 7%. This can be compared to the previous year when pulpwood and sawlog prices increased by 8% and 1%.

Regionally, pulpwood prices decreased in the Central region by 13% during 2020, and it decreased by 11% in the Southern region and 4% in the Northern region of Sweden.

The price development for sawlogs also showed a decrease. In the Central region, prices decreased by 9% during 2020 compared to 2019. In the Southern region the price decreased by 7% and in the Northern region by 3%.

The sawlog prices for the fourth quarter had some recovery in comparison with the third quarter of 2020 and increased by 5%. On the other hand, pulpwood price continued to decrease by 3%. There were regional differences in pulpwood prices and the largest decrease was in the Northern Region by 11% in comparison with the third quarter of 2020.
