Russian Timber Journal 08-2024: Alexey Lyapunov, Head of Export Sales to Africa at Sveza: “Timber companies need reliable payment channels to enter new markets successfully”; Sawlogs preservation experience of timber harvesting companies — this material was prepared by WhatWood analysts based on the speech by Nikita Marushchak, Head of Strategic Development Administration at Ilim Group; The European Parliament has made a decision to postpone the implementation of the Deforestation-Free Products Regulation (EUDR); Producers in the European Union are citing a surge in cheap hardwood plywood which they say is coming from China, but they believe originates in Russia; Plywood production in Russia in 9 months 2024 grew by 4.6% YoY to 2.542 mln m³; In January–September 2024, enterprises from the Northwestern Federal District increased their furniture production by 23% YoY, up to 34.5 billion rubles; Luzales-Tikhvin signed a contract with Chinese partners for supplying wood pellets; Segezha Group intends to raise up to 101 billion rubles during the planned additional share issue by placing shares by closed subscription at 1.8 rubles per paper.
