Russian Timber Journal 04-2024: Nadezhda Ryazantseva, Analytics Director, Segezha Group: “In Q1 2024, we saw an increase of demand and prices in some locations”; the European Union announced the imposition of anti-dumping duties on Kazakhstan and Turkey of 15.8% birch plywood; VLP Group confirmed purchasing a 100% share of Russian assets previously owned by Metsä Group in the Leningrad Region; Sheksna Wood-Based Panels Plant launched a new MDF production line; the Russian plywood production reached 303,000 m³ in April 2024 (+7.3% YoY, -6.2% MoM); the management team of Ilim Group shared its plans of implementing two new investment projects on production upgrading; according to a quick-look estimate by the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia, the Russian furniture production volume increased in both monetary and physical terms in Q1 2024: by 24% YoY and 27% YoY, respectively; according to Roslesinforg, the volume of roundwood export from Russia surged by 14.6% YoY in Q1 2024, up to 673,000 m³; since the beginning of 2024, producers of birch veneer from the Vologda Region increased the export of this product by 24% YoY, up to 10,100 m³.
