Russian Timber Journal 03-2024: Evgeny Peshin, Head of Neoparma LLC: “Our line is designed for small and medium companies, and this category of entrepreneurs has no access to investment funds”; a shortage of high-quality raw material for plywood may emerge in the Russian market because of the risk of increased birch logs and veneer export to China; Segezha Group published its financial and operational performance results for Q4 2023; International Paper has agreed to acquire UK packaging materials maker DS Smith for $7.2 billion in shares; according to Rosleskhoz, in 2023 the volume of timber harvesting in Russia decreased by 4% to 188 million m³; the Ministry of Construction developed a bill that makes it possible to include built-in furniture and interior finishing in the mortgage amount in case of using escrow accounts under shared construction participation agreements; In 2024, the Group is planning to ramp up its shipments to the PRC to 2.4 million t, with cardboard accounting for 850,000 t out of it, which is twice as much as in 2023; the value of investments in the Russian timber industry reduced by 4.8% in 2023 compared to the record-setting performance of 2022.
