Luzales continues implementation of large-scale investment projects
The coronavirus situation slowed down some activities but the work at company’s plants never stopped, Valentin Rozhok, Director General at Luzales LLC, reports. “We are continuing construction and startup of new facilities. An area for dry sawn timber sorting and a new kiln by Valutec (140,000 m³ of sawn timber per year) have been commissioned in production unit in Chov’yu. The second stage will increase it to 300,000 m³ per year.”
Construction of the first stage of Polytechnik boiler house (Austria) is now coming to an end in Chov’yu (14 MW of thermal energy); it uses bark and timber waste as fuel. Construction of the boiler house’s second stage will start in 2020-2021, adding 4 MW of electrical power.
The company already has a pellet production site in Kyddzyavidz. Equipment for pellet production is currently being installed in Chov’yu; it is supposed to be commissioned in September. New presses will be able to produce 100,000-120,000 pellets per year.
The area for value-added wood processing is being upgraded and re-equipped in Syktyvkar, at the premises of former Promkombinat. Equipment for rotary cutting of birch veneer will be installed there. Luzales is subsequently planning to open its own plywood production in Chov’yu (the fourth stage of the investment project).
In 2020, Luzales is supposed to harvest 1.7 million m³ of timber.
