In the Pskov region sawmill “Sudoma” begins production of brushed lumber

The Sudoma sawmill (Dedovichi village, Pskov region)has put into operation a section of timber brushing. The capacity of the site allows monthly production of more than 300 m3 of finished products intended for export and for the domestic market.

As reported by the head of the service on public relations in a press-service of the company Veronika Bialkowskay upon request by WhatWood agency, “at the station installed equipment Griggio. Brushed thermo-modified finishing materials are used primarily in the decoration of premises, saunas, decoration of concrete and metal bearing structures of buildings. We expect that the demand for these products will be from both Russian and European consumers.”

Brushed or distressed wood is a decorative material used to finish interior stairs, furniture, decorations, small garden forms, etc. In the process of brushing with the top layer of wood is removed mechanically soft fibers, which gives the surface a distinct texture, with toughness and wear resistance of the material is almost not reduced.

Italian equipment has been installed in the area of brushing of the Sudoma sawmill, which allows processing wood by methods of deep and easy brushing. Investments in the creation of a new production site amount to 2.3 million rubles, excluding capital investments in auxiliary technological operations.

At the first stage, the company will produce brushed lumber from conventional and heat-treated softwood and hardwood (spruce, pine, larch, birch). In the future, the rock composition of raw materials can be expanded.

“The Sudoma sawmill has been systematically developing high-tech production of modern natural, environmentally friendly wood materials for several years. We see a significant demand for these products both abroad and in the domestic market. Our products are able to compete with products of leading world manufacturers”, – noted the General Director of the Sudoma timber mill, Dmitry Animals.

According to the analytical center of GS Group, since 2013 the volume of production of thermo-modified wood in European countries annually increases by at least 10% and in 2020 will exceed 500 thousand m3.

According to the analytical center GS Group, in three years (compared to 2015) the volume of exports of processed wood from the Pskov region increased by 5.8 times. This figure decreased in all neighboring regions, except the Leningrad region. In the Novgorod region, the volume of exported sawn timber decreased by 7 %, in the Tver region – by 34 %. If in 2015 the volume of exports of processed wood from the Tver region was more than the Pskov region in 5.8 times, in 2018 already Pskov region is ahead of the Tver region in this indicator in 1.79 times.
