The Government approved the RF Forest Sector Development Strategy until 2030
The document covers the economic and environmental issues of the forest sector and is aimed at the effective use, protection, conservation, and regeneration of forests, switching to intensive forest use, and increasing the contribution of the forest sector to the social and economic development of the country.
“It is a comprehensive document. Its main goals are to improve the efficiency of the forest sector, to double its contribution to the country’s GDP, to facilitate the further development of our economy. Including by achieving national targets and solving other tasks stipulated by the president. Of course, the Strategy also comprises a significant environmental component. It enshrines the switch to the intensive forest management model. It will be achieved, first of all, by the efficient organization of selective felling and forest maintenance based on the most successful practices. To increase the transparency of the sector in general and stop shady trading schemes, it also provides for active introduction of digital technologies and information systems,” said Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
