The demand for Russian plywood in the Arab market
In Russia, with the growth of plywood production capacities, companies are interested in scaling up and increasing the distribution channels for their products. In contrast to the markets of the USA, China and Western Europe, Arabian plywood markets are less developed, where for operation it is necessary to take many nuances into account. We asked Maksim Kolenko, independent expert on the markets of the Middle East, to tell about them.
– Maxim, please tell us, what is the position of Russian plywood in the world market today?
– At the moment, the Russian plywood industry is actively developing. In our country, the capacity of plywood enterprises is growing from year to year, new plants are being built, and existing production facilities are being modernized. Today, in the global market, the demand for plywood from Russia exceeds supply. This applies particularly to products of sizes 5×5 (1525mm × 1525mm) and 4×8 (1220mm × 2440mm).
Strangely enough, 5×5 plywood has long been recognized as an obsolete product, but the situation is totally different. I believe that last year many plywood enterprises were pleasantly surprised when the demand for 5×5 plywood significantly increased.

By the end of this year, the volume of exports of the Russian timber industry products is expected to be at the level of $12 billion.
