Rosstat: plywood production in Russia reaches highest level since February 2022

18 June 2025 ` 15:58

According to Rosstat, plywood production in Russia reached 357,000 m³ in April 2025, up 20.8% YoY and 14.5% higher than in March 2025. This marks the highest monthly output since February 2022. Over January–April 2025, total plywood production increased by 6.8% YoY to 1.213 million m³.

According to published Rosstat data, plywood production in the Vologda Region reached 100,700 m³ in April 2025, significantly exceeding the region’s typical levels and statistically standing out compared to the average monthly output of 25,000–30,000 m³ observed over the past seven years.

Such an anomaly may be related to methodological features of statistical accounting. Similar to the situation in the particleboard market, the cause could be the inclusion in the reports of production volumes from mills not specialized in plywood manufacturing but classified under the relevant OKPD code, leading to distortion of industry data. An alternative explanation for this sharp increase could be Rosstat’s inclusion in the statistical sample of plywood producers that previously did not participate in reporting.
