Metsä Group suspended operations at Metsä Svir sawmill

Metsä Group (Finland) announced suspension of operations at its only production unit in the Leningrad Region, Russia. Raw material purchasing and supplies to the Group’s Finnish and Swedish plants were also terminated.

According to the investment web portal of the Leningrad Region, Metsä Svir sawmill currently employs 117 people. According to WhatWood, the sawmill’s production capacity is 300,000 m³ of sawn timber per year; its product output in 2021 was 282,000 m³.
