Kastamonu Entegre opened MDF and flooring plant in Tatarstan

Turkish company Kastamonu Entegre, one of the largest global producers of wood-based panels, launched a large mill in the Alabuga special economic zone (Tatarstan) on 24 September. The volume of investments into the project amounted to $600 million, said LesPromInform journal. The fact of mill start-up was confirmed to WhatWood by the press service of the Kastamonu head office in Turkey.

At the first stage, 475,000 m3 of MDF and 20 million m2 of wooden flooring will be produced there. In 2016, the company will also open a 725,000 m3 chipboard production there, while in 2017-2018, the start of a 575,000 m3 OSB capacity is planned.

Meanwhile, “Forest transport company”, established to the purpose of raw material supply of this project one year ago, has already logged and delivered 240,000 m3 of low-grade raw wood to the site during that time.
