In 2023, the revenue from forest use for timber harvesting dropped by 16%

According to Roslesinforg, the revenue from use of forests (across all types) grew by 3% YoY in 2023, reaching 74.4 billion rubles.

The largest source of fiscal revenue is using forests for harvesting wood. In 2023, the revenue from this type of forest use was 37.3 billion rubles.

In 2022, the revenue from using Russian forests reached 72 billion rubles, as previously reported by Roslesinforg. According to the forest accounting authority, the revenue received in 2022 from using forest areas for wood harvesting—44.4 billion rubles—accounted for over 61.6% of the total amount.

In 2023, accordingly, the fiscal revenue from forest use for timber harvesting dropped by 16% YoY.
