The Federal Forestry Agency (Rosleskhoz) published the final data on harvesting volumes in 2022. According to the Agency, in 2022, the Russian timber harvest dropped by 13% YoY, down to 194.6 million m³ — the lowest since 2014. The overwhelming majority of Russian regions performed worse than before. Only five regions harvesting over 1 million m³ of timber per year demonstrated growth compared to 2021: the Kostroma Region (+3%), Bryansk Region (+12%), Novosibirsk Region (+11%), Yakutia (+28%), and Zabaykalsky Region (+1%).

The performance in all major harvesting regions that accounted for almost 40% of the country’s total timber harvest in 2022 reduced considerably: the Vologda Region (-20%), Arkhangelsk Region (-13%), Irkutsk Region (-15%), and Krasnoyarsk Region (-21%).
