FESCO launches regular container train from Petrozavodsk to Vladivostok
FESCO Transportation Group (part of the management structure of the State Corporation Rosatom) has launched a regular container train service from Petrozavodsk to Vladivostok, the company’s press service reports.
Trains depart on average twice a month from Petrozavodsk station and arrive at Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port (VCSP, part of FESCO). The estimated transit time is 14 days. The Group is considering increasing the service frequency to four trains per month in the future.
The service primarily carries lumber and wood pellets. The planned monthly volume is approximately 600 TEU.
The new rail service targets major wood processing enterprises in Northwest Russia, particularly in the Republic of Karelia, offering them additional export opportunities to East and Southeast Asian countries via Vladivostok through FESCO’s regular maritime lines.
The first regular container train, loaded with 152 TEU, arrived at VCSP from Petrozavodsk on July 20. The cargo will now be shipped aboard the Group’s container vessels to the ports of Busan and Gwangyang in South Korea.
