DOK Kalevala produced its first OSB panels
Chief Executive of DOK Kalevala (Petrozavodsk, Karelia) Valery Puchkov announced to LesPromInform journal that the mill produced its first OSB panels. At the moment, specialists of the mill complete start-up and commissioning to prepare the equipment for industrial production.
The official opening of the mill is scheduled for June. Probably, the opening ceremony will be timed to coincide with the exhibition “Interles. Karelia” to be held on June 25-27 in Petrozavodsk.
The planned volume of production at the DOK Kalevala will be around 250-300 thousand cubic metres per year. The main equipment is supplied by the German company Siempelkamp which has extensive experience in implementing OSB projects around the world. A 50-metre length continuous press is installed at the mill. Construction of Kalevala was carried out with the own funds of Compact company and credit capital obtained from the Czech Export Bank (ČEB).
DOK Kalevala is the first major producer of OSB in Russia. In 2012, the production of this panel grade started at Novovyatsky ski mill in Kirov region. Stated capacity of it was 100 thousand cu m, but in fact it still remains very low. Another enterprise, Hillman OSB located in Vladimir region, has launched a line with 30,000 m3 of capacity.
