Segezha Group to invest over 500 million rubles in timber harvesting in Siberia and Arkhangelsk Region

By the end of 2019, Segezha Group intends to complete an investment project for updating and expanding the fleet of forestry, road, auxiliary machinery and vehicles. The current stage of the investment project is focused on strengthening the raw material reliability of the Group’s processing enterprises and reducing the cost of sawn raw materials in the Krasnoyarsk and Arkhangelsk Regions. The value of investments is 670 million rubles. It is particularly planned to purchase two CTL harvesting units (harvester and forwarder) for the Angara group of harvesting branches of Lesosibirsky LDK No. 1 (Krasnoyarsk Region), as well as a felling and bunching machine for whip technology, the use of which is effective and reasonable for Siberia.

It is expected that the expanded fleet of vehicles and machinery would increase the share of own timber harvesting from 26.7% to 40%, which will allow to refuse the services of contractors, reduce the cost of harvesting, and stabilize supplies of raw materials for sawing to Lesosibirsky LDK No. 1. It is also planned to purchase two CTL harvesting units (harvester and forwarder) and 16 timber trucks, half of which will be of foreign production, for harvesting enterprises of Onega (Arkhangelsk Region). This aims to replace contracted services as well. Currently, a tender procedure for the purchase of the specified machinery is being held.
