UPM continues preparations for the construction of a new world-class pulp mill in Uruguay
UPM sales in 2018 increased by 5% and comparative EBIT by 17%. About it reports a press-service of the company.
According to UPM President and CEO Jussi Pesonen, ” 2018 was a record year for UPM. Despite the instability of the global economy, which was growing by the end of the year, we achieved excellent results, completing the 23rd consecutive quarter with increased profitability. The year was a commercial success, our sales grew, and we managed to level our production costs. In 2018, we laid the Foundation for the future growth of our current and new businesses. We have clearly defined the directions of our growth in 2019: high-quality fiber, special packaging materials, and molecular bioproduction.”
Uruguay continues to prepare for the possible construction of a new world-class pulp mill. The implementation of the investment agreement between UPM and the government of Uruguay will enter into an intensive phase in 2019.
