15 December 2022 ` 18:38

WhatWood Analytics Agency prepared the next rating of TOP 100 Russian timber industry companies in 2021. The timber industry’s contribution to the Russian economy is growing, particularly due to commissioning new venues and increasing output volumes. For instance, based on the 2021 performance, the timber industry’s contribution to the Russian GDP increased to 2% compared to 1.7% in 2020.

The year 2021 was the most successful in the contemporary history in terms of financial performance of the Russian timber industry. The revenue of all Russian timber industry companies surged by 30%, up to 2.9 trillion rubles, and the net profit, by 3 times, up to 460 billion rubles. Meanwhile the revenue of the Top 100 largest timber companies grew by 43.5%, up to 1.77 trillion rubles.

The key factor that drove such incredible results in 2021 was undoubtedly the unprecedented growth of prices of all timber products in the Russian and global markets during the post-pandemic recovery of the global economy. The Russian timber industry thus fully rebounded after the slump during the period of coronavirus restrictions in 2020.

In general, the Top 100 largest Russian timber companies accounted for 62% of the entire sector’s revenue in 2021 – a 56% growth compared to 2020. The other participants of the Russian timber market are medium and small companies with a revenue of 1.1 billion rubles. The Top 10 largest timber companies accounted for slightly over 25% of revenue in 2021, or 733 billion rubles, compared to almost 519 billion rubles (24%) in 2020.
