The Russian government is considering the creation of a forestry state corporation

The structure can be created in the form of a public law company based on the Decree of the President. The main functions that can be assigned to the new structure: implementation of forestry activities; implementation of measures for the protection and forests reproduction, including the implementation of selective and clear cutting, extinguishing forest fires; conducting forest pathological examinations; ensuring effective forest protection. The public law company can become a single federal operator in the field of conservation, protection and reproduction of forests. The state corporation may be additionally assigned the functions of harvesting mature and overripe wood in areas not transferred to forest management; the sale of harvested wood, including during the implementation of sanitary measures, at public auction; the provision of various paid services to other forest users, constituent entities of the Russian Federation and municipalities.
