The Ministry of Industry and Trade suggests cancelling export duties on sawn timber with over 22% moisture content until the end of 2022

The Ministry of Industry and Trade suggests lifting export duties on sawn timber with over 22% moisture content (except oak, beech and ash sawn timber) until the end of 2022, as reported by Kommersant quoting the Ministry.  The duty rate for these types of products is currently 10%. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, these proposals were developed following instructions by Viktoria Abramchenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia; the initiative is aimed at supporting Russian timber enterprises.

Duties on roughly processed sawn timber over 10 cm thick will, however, remain at the previous safeguard level — €200/m³ for softwood and from €250 to €370/m³ for precious hardwood (oak, beech ash).
