The Ministry of Industry and Trade may introduce a temporary ban on the export of particleboards from Russia

21 January 2021 ` 17:24

Vera Khmyrova, Head of the Department of Light Industry and Forestry Complex of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, informs that the problem with the supply of raw materials for furniture enterprises arose in September 2020, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade is closely monitoring the situation.

The shortage of boards being experienced by furniture companies is conditioned by the unexpected “explosive” growth in demand for furniture products. The head of the department believes that the reason is that people have got idle money that has not been used for vacations and other purposes.

Ms. Khmyrova added that the Ministry will continue to monitor the situation and if businesses say that it is necessary to suspend the ban on particleboard exports for six months, it is ready for this.
