The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Construction of Russia continue to elaborate a roadmap for the formation of a domestic market for the production and consumption of standardized glued laminated timber structures

24 January 2023 ` 19:19

The roadmap is aimed at compensating for the lost exports of sawn timber and glulam structures to the countries of the European Union and at increasing the output of higher-value-added timber products.

The roadmap provides for federal funding for the following:

  • adoption of the assortment of standardized glued laminated timber structures (amending GOST standards, rules and regulations);
  • assessment of the availability and capabilities of domestic manufacturers of equipment, tools, and components, as well as providers of maintenance and engineering services for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Russian equipment; introduction of measures to support the development of machine tool engineering;
  • preparation of tables for selecting the required sections of beams for floors/roofs, supports, columns, rafters, etc.;
  • research and development activities for various types of structures;
  • compilation of manuals of standard technical solutions as well as of design and construction guidelines;
  • design of standard industrial and civil infrastructural facilities, private houses, public buildings and structures;
  • introduction of temporary minimum targets for sawn softwood export at 15-20% of the exports planned for the reporting period;
  • effecting sales of sawn timber on the domestic market using the LesEGAIS system;
  • increasing the number of wooden products under government contracts for construction;
  • increasing the number of wooden facilities built under government contracts.
