The head of the Republic of Komi proposed to increase the responsibility of forest land tenants

Speaking at the panel discussion of the IV International conference “CBP of Russia – new realities, new opportunities”, Sergey Gaplikov drew attention to the need to strengthen control over the execution of lease agreements by forest users.

As the press service of the official portal of the Republic of Komi, in the Komi forest area leased out with the aim of logging, than 5.5 million hectares. the Forecast harvest on this lease this year will exceed 6.7 million cubic meters of wood, the established allowable cut is about 12 million cubic meters.

“It is important for us to ensure the responsible use of this wealth. It is necessary to increase the responsibility of tenants for non-fulfillment of contractual obligations on the volume and quality of forest reproduction in the forest area. It is possible to revise the conditions that give the right to conclude a forest lease agreement for a new period without bidding. It is necessary to establish a requirement for termination of the contract in case of non – fulfillment of annual volumes of works on protection, protection and reproduction of forests in accordance with the development project”, – commented the head of the region.

Sergey Gaplikov expressed confidence that these measures will attract responsible forest users, will stimulate the investment of tenants in the construction of logging roads and the implementation of works on the protection, protection and reproduction of forests.
