Temporary waste wood storage opened in Komi

12 February 2014 ` 03:32

In the Adzherom village (Komi Republic), a site opened for temporary storage of waste wood. Total investments into the project amounted to 45 million roubles, the site capacity is 30,000 m3.

The site will solve the problem of disposal and utilization of wood waste, as well as create conditions for the construction of biofuel plants. At present, a number of municipal buildings of the region are working on bioenergy fuels, which have helped to reduce the cost of heat supply by almost four times. Pellet boilers are installed in the community houses of many villages, another one heats the whole village of Pezmeg.

First Deputy Minister of development, industry and transport Alexander Gibezh said that Komi is recommended for inclusion in the list of 10 pilot Russian regions, where the bioenergy development programme will be implemented.

In 2013, construction began on three other sites in Komi for temporary storage of waste wood: in the villages of Mordino and Ust-Kulom as well as in Zheshart. These sites should become a resource base for the production of biofuels: briquettes, pellets, and wood chips. For these purposes, more than 11 million roubles were allocated from the regional budget.

Municipalities that have not yet joined the programme were recommended to prepare design specifications and estimates for construction sites, which will become the basis for co-financing.
