Talion-Terra launched OSB production in the Tver region

27 October 2016 ` 22:44

Talion Terra (owned by the managing company STOD LLC) has launched the OSB line in test mode at its site in Torzhok (Tver region) and produces 900-1000 m3 of panels daily on Dieffenbacher equipment, with rated capacity being 1618 m3 per day (500,000 m3 per year). This was stated by the technical consultant of Talion Trading Vladimir Kerchensky at the conference arranged by LesPromInform business journal in the framework of Lesdrevmash exhibition on 26 October 2016.

As raw material, the mill uses pine (60%) and aspen (40%), making panels with emission class E1, thickness 6-40 mm, maximum width of 2800 mm, and maximum length of 6200 mm. The equipment allows to produce OSB with tongue-and-groove connection.

The company already produces laminated veneer lumber (LVL) at the site in Torzhok (rated capacity is 150,000 m3), also using Dieffenbacher press, and fuel pellets (rated capacity is 60,000 tonnes).

The mill has become the sixth in Russia for the production of OSB. Prior to this there were five factories with a total rated capacity of 885,000 m3, including Kronospan-Egoryevsk and DOK Kalevala. The launch of these enterprises and Kronospan-Mogilev mill in Belarus has significantly changed the market conditions and resulted in an almost complete termination of OSB imports into Russia. Description of the market situation and installed capacities is available in the OSB market review prepared by WhatWood.

Plywood & panel conference in the framework of Lesdrevmash exhibition was organized by LesPromInform business journal. The forum attracted leading plywood and panel companies of Russia (Sveza, UPM Chudovo, United Panel Group, Kronospan, DOK Kalevala, Kastamonu). Extended article based on the presentation of the WhatWood chief editor Kirill Baranov at this conference will be available later on whatwood.ru.
