Sveza to begin its own timber harvesting in Perm Region

18 October 2021 ` 19:07

Sveza, a global leader in the manufacture of birch plywood, is to begin harvesting its own timber in nine forested areas in the Perm Region in December 2021. The company is investing over RUB 600 million in project, which includes, among other things, procurement of special purpose equipment. It is expected that the project implementation will increase the amount of timber the company harvests annually by 255,000 m³.

As part of its commitment to meet the condition for the implementation of a forest exploitation priority investment project, Sveza won a bid to lease 9 forested land plots in the Perm Region to harvest timber for own production facilities. The total area of the forested land plots is 290,000 hectares. In order to implement such a big project, Sveza Resource set up Sveza Resource Urals — a separate division that will be in charge of the forested land plots. Timber harvesting is to start this December. Once the project starts, the amount of timber the company harvests per year is expected to increase by 255,000 m³, while sales of plywood raw materials from the leased plots are expected to go up by 50,000 m³.
