Smurfit Kappa expands production capacity for the production of Bag-in-Box packaging
For this purpose, the company recently acquired an enterprise in Texas, USA, according to the press service of Smurfit Kappa.
Packaging Bag-in-Box is used for bottling premium wines. In North America, this packaging segment is growing rapidly in the beverage sector. There is also a growing demand for Smurfit Kappa packaging solutions for liquids: olive oil, water, fruit juices, and motor oil.
“The new plant will support the growth we see in both the wine and non-food markets in the Americas, and will contribute to the development of modern dosing technologies.” – said Didier Pontcharraud, managing Director of Vitop Smurfit Kappa.
The company plans to invest in equipping the new facility (its area is 100 thousand square feet) with modern technological solutions to expand the possibilities of Bag-in-Box packaging. In addition to the Vitop crane, which occupies the No. 1 position in the world in the field of wine cranes, the packaging will be equipped with a new Delta crane for rigid packaging. When the plant reaches 100% production capacity, it will employ 70 people. Smurfit Kappa Bag-in-Box operates in 12 countries.
