Segezha Group to install cutting-edge wastewater treatment facilities at Sokol Pulp and Paper Mill

1 November 2021 ` 19:45

Segezha Group is planning to construct its own treatment facilities at Sokol Pulp and Paper Mill in the Vologda Region. Investments in the project which includes the construction works are estimated at around RUB 2 billion. The biological treatment station has a capacity of 6.5 million m³ per year. The launch of the treatment facilities is scheduled for 2023.

At present, the mill’s wastewater is routed to the city’s wastewater treatment facilities. The construction of the additional wastewater treatment facilities is tied to the implementation of a large-scale investment project for constructing a new paper-making machine and boosting the production of technical lignosulfonates. As a result of the update, production capacity will increase by four times, from 20,000 to 80,000 tons per year. The amount of wastewater processed will increase respectively.

The new biological treatment station will provide filtering runoff of all existing and planned facilities. The Finnish company Econet, a world leader in the implementation of water supply and disposal projects, will handle the design and supply besides supervising the installation of the equipment.
