Sawn timber sales remain weak in July
In late July and early August 2025, sawn timber producers surveyed by WhatWood reported weak sales and no signs of demand recovery. A representative of a company from the Siberian Federal District noted: “I’m managing to sell volumes while keeping prices steady. But I have no hopes for autumn.” A seller from the Volga Federal District explained: “I’m not working with China now. Given the strong ruble, the current price level makes sales to China less attractive than, for example, to Uzbekistan.”
According to market participants, amid ongoing external economic uncertainty, sanctions pressure, and the absence of demand recovery, no growth in prices or volumes is expected in the second half of the year. Against this backdrop, enterprises are cautiously setting procurement prices for softwood sawlogs amid the risk of raw material shortages in autumn.
