Russian Wood Resources 11-2021: In November, the Russian logs market witnessed a higher demand for and a local shortage of the roundwood pulpwood group
Not all regions were able to start winter harvesting in November. Logs could not be hauled in the European part of Russia (in central and north-western regions) because of humid weather and the continuing period of impassable roads. However, the air temperature stayed negative in the Volga region (Kirov and Perm Regions, Udmurtia) for quite a long time in November. Some harvesting enterprises reported that roads became passable, enabling them to haul freshly cut timber from nearby areas.
A significant shortage of raw material generally continued in the market; it was particularly obvious in the pulpwood group. Pulpwood is not readily available in the market. Some pulp and paper mills and wood-based panels plants even raised their prices.
