Russian enterprises are actively increasing their wood pellet production capacities

In January – August 2021, wood pellet production capacities of Russian enterprises were expanded by a total of 160,000 t. By the most optimistic forecasts that take into account all the announced projects and those under construction by the end of 2021, Russia’s wood pellet production capacities may expand by more than 1 million t of product per year. This volume will obviously not be commissioned by the end of the year.

Besides, another large investment project in the eastern part of Russia was announced in August 2021. For instance, Atlant LLC is planning to build a wood pellet production site in Ust-Ilimsk (Irkutsk Region) with the capacity of 120,000 t of wood pellets per year. Europe is going to be the key sales market for future wood pellets.
