RBC reports, relying on one of the bidders for the asset and a source in the government, that the Russian authorities have not approved the sale of Mondi Syktyvkar LPK – the main asset of Mondi, an Austrian group, in Russia – to an entity of Viktor Kharitonin, co-owner of Pharmstandard, for 95 billion rubles (about €1.5 billion).

According to one of the versions of RBC’s sources, the deal has been rejected by the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia. Another source of the newspaper informed that the approval has not been obtained from the Government Commission on Monitoring Foreign Investment.

Mondi Syktyvkar LPK, being an employer of about 4,500 people, produces wood pulp, packaging and office paper for the Russian market.
