Rosleskhoz: the volume of transported timber grew by 12.9% in 2023

8 February 2024 ` 16:57

In 2023, the total volume of timber transported in Russia increased by 12.9% YoY, reaching 355.7 million m³, as reported by the Federal Forestry Agency (Rosleskhoz). Over 7.6 million electronic accompanying documents for timber transportation were created in LesEGAIS in 2023. About 1 million m³ of timber was daily transported in Russia that year.

“The number of electronic accompanying documents generally remains at the same level as in 2022, when 7.5 million such documents were created. The greater number of electronic accompanying documents created in LesEGAIS evidences the additional reduction of quasi-legal schemes in timber circulation. During last year, we were fine-tuning the balance-based model of timber measurement. Some of the changes include enhanced control over timber hauling from felling sites, processing venues, and warehouses,” says Vyacheslav Spirenkov, Deputy Head of Rosleskhoz.
