Rosleskhoz is going to have more control functions

The Ministry of Natural Resources suggests that the Government transform the Federal Forestry Agency (Rosleskhoz) into the Federal Service for Supervision of Forestry and endow it with extended authorities of controlling regional executive bodies in charge of preservation and regeneration of Russian forests, as reported by Vedomosti quoting Sergey Anoprienko, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Experts consider this measure to be correct and note that the government intends to enhance controlling functions of forestry management and reduce its direct involvement in economic activities, assigning it to leaseholders.
