According to the Federal State Statistics Service, the average producer’s price of Russian plywood in the domestic market in May increased by 7.8% YoY to 26,595 rubles / m³ ($ 365). Export prices up to 12.4% YoY to 31,430 rubles / m³ ($ 432). The growth in plywood prices was recorded for the first time since February 2019.

According to the monthly WhatWood wood-based panels price review, there is also a rising price trend in the domestic market. For example, the price for interior plywood increased by 9.6% y / y (Moscow region, DIY, 5×5, grade 4/4, 12 mm) to 18,444 rubles / m³ ($ 253). In the Russian regions, average growth by some specifications amounted to 12% y / y (Volga region, DIY, 5×5, grade 4/4, 12 mm) to 22,781 rubles / m³ ($ 313).

Increasing price is confirmed by Segezha Group (Vyatsky Plywood mill). According to the company’s data, starting in February 2020, the market has seen a recovery in prices within 10% of the level of 4Q 2019 due to a decrease of tropical plywood production in China and the ensuing drop in exports.
