Opora Russia and Russian Forest proposed to defer lease payments for forest areas in the Irkutsk region

1 September 2022 ` 23:41

Opora Russia, a business association, and Russian Forest National Association of Timber Industry recommended that the government of the Irkutsk region consider the possibility of introducing a regional moratorium on the termination of forest area lease agreements until the end of 2022.

It is also proposed to defer payments for the use of forests for timber harvesting in 2022-2023 that are in excess of the minimum ones. It is estimated that such measures will help support the industry in the context of sanctions.
