Mayr-Melnhof Holz invests in CLT production in Austria

8 June 2021 ` 17:06

Mayr-Melnhof Holz is investing €150 million in its plant in Leoben and wants to create an additional 50 jobs there. The plan is for the new cross-laminated timber plant to go into full operation in just under two years. The focus is on cross laminated timber (CLT), which is cross-glued and has the best physical properties.

According to the company, this is the largest investment in the history of the Mayr-Melnhof Holz Group. The cross laminated timber production is part of a planned expansion. Investments are also made in a high-performance sorting and planing plant as well as in a fully automated high-bay warehouse. With the new cross-laminated timber plant, the production capacity for cross-laminated timber will be expanded from the current 80,000 m³ per year to 200,000 m³ per year, thus taking into account the strong market growth.
