In the East Kazakhstan region, it is planned to increase the export of wood products. The forest covers 3.5 million hectares in the region. However, 95% of the plantings are more than 40 years old. It is due to the decaying trees that are not suitable for the manufacture of furniture, it is planned to increase production.

According to the Deputy Director of forestry of city of Ust-Kamenogorsk Rifat Ilyasova, “we are preparing the accounting of the forest Fund, we ripe and overripe plantations 2 million 600 thousand cubic meters. Of them over-Mature stands are half a million, this suggests that the forest is aging, it is necessary as-that to process. For example, this plant produces 16 thousand cubic meters of chipboard from unclaimed timber in the industry per year. 30% are sent to Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan“.

As the Deputy head of the Department of natural resources and environmental management of the East Kazakhstan region noted, “we have several processing companies that work on deep processing. There is an interest of the Chinese furniture companies which are ready to arrive to us, to consider our conditions and at the opportunity to organize production on deep processing of wood. With the launch of processing industries, the forest will be updated. Instead of one cut down acres of the forest Manager will be required to plant trees and shrubs two. Since 2030, the region plans to plant up to 3.5 thousand hectares of coniferous and deciduous species annually.”
