In Japan, Nippon Paper Industries will build a plant for the production of carboxymethyl cellulose

Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. announced the construction of a new plant for the production of functional cellulose product –carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC, product name SUNROSE ) at the factory Gotu (Gotu city, Shimane Prefecture).

The company will invest about 4.7 billion yen in the construction of the facility, which is planned to be completed in November 2020. This was reported by the press service of the company.

CMC is an anionic water-soluble polymer derived from wood pulp. Because it is derived from wood, it has a slow Biodegradability and is environmentally friendly. Since the material has excellent adhesion, water absorption, and moisture retention, it is widely used in food, hygienic and industrial fields.

Nippon Paper Industries already has experience in the production of wood products such as soluble cellulose and functional chemicals at the Gotsu factory, which is its main plant in the chemical business. In September 2017, the company released cellulose nanofiber (CM-CNF called CELLENPIA). Nippon Paper Group consists of about 160 branches and related companies headed by Nippon Paper Industries Co.,which is a 100% holding company. It is headquartered in Tokyo.
