In Germany, imports of hardwood plywood increased by 5 %

In 2018, the import of plywood hardwoods of Germany increased by 5% to 748 585 m3.

According to preliminary data of the Federal statistical office, the growth of production of softwood plywood was even more significant – from 8% to 463565 m3. While the volume of imports of plywood from tropical wood decreased by 1% to 137 050 m3.

Last year, the opposite was noted. In 2017, only imports of tropical plywood increased by 12% m3. However, in the case of hardwood and softwood plywood, imports of 789.184 m3 and 434,243 m3 reached in 2016 were reduced by 11% and 1%, respectively.
