Impact of Covid 19 on timber markets: Italy

To cope with COVID-19, the country is going to allocate up to 20% of its GDP. With the quarantine, some furniture companies (Molteni, Poliform) cut back production. Natuzzi has also slowed down its operations and is looking for alternative production sites in Vietnam. The Italian wood processing, paper, and packaging industries are allowed to continue their activities (as provided for by the government decree). Some companies voluntarily decide on temporary downtime. Along with that, there is a strict restriction on the import of products into the country; only imports of wood pellets and packaging are allowed.
