Ilim Group launches Polar Bear pulp for premium paper and packaging

Polar Bear, a bleached softwood kraft pulp, meets the highest quality standards and is designed for the production of premium paper and packaging. The new product was developed in response to growing demand for high-quality pulp and the increasing consumption of paper and packaging materials in China.

Ilim Group has consolidated its position as a key player in Russia’s pulp and paperboard exports to China: between 2010 and 2024, the company’s export volumes were comparable to the combined shipments of all other industry participants. In 2024, Ilim’s exports to China reached a record 2.1 million tons. Steady growth in export volumes underscores the strategic importance of the Chinese market for Russia’s pulp and paper industry.

Polar Bear pulp is produced at Ilim Group’s mill in Ust-Ilimsk. A large-scale modernization program implemented between 2016 and 2019 enables the company to ensure consistently high product quality in line with international standards.
