The US increased exports of pellets by 17 % in 2018
The US exported 6.04 million metric tons of wood pellets in 2018, an increase of about 17% compared to 5.14 million metric tons exported in 2017, according to data published by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service – the USDA FAS for March 06, 2019.
Last year, the US exported wood pellets to almost three dozen countries, although the volume of exports was less than 100 metric tons each for about half of these countries.
Great Britain became the main destination for the export of wood pellets from the United States in 2018, where shipped 4.71 million tons.
Exports to Belgium – Luxembourg reached 580,394.9 tons and exports to Denmark-472,564. 8 metric tons.
Also, pellets were delivered to Italy, Canada, The French West Indies, France, and the Netherlands in the amount of 20 000 metric tons to 90 000 metric tons
According to FAS data, the US exported 1733.7 metric tons of wood pellets to Japan last year, and 6559 metric tons were exported to South Korea. In addition, FAS estimate the total value of exports of wood pellets in 2018 812 million dollars, while the UK has 646 million dollars from that value.
